Waupaca Grass Volleyball Tournament (and I thought Nationals was big)

Last weekend, for the first time in my volleyball career, I played in the annual Waupaca Boatride Volleyball Tournament in the Dells. We camped Friday night, played all day Saturday, camped Saturday night and left Sunday.

So this is the field that we played at, near Chula Vista Resort. There were a total of 180 courts, women and men's threes with Open, AA, A, BB, and B divisions. I played in A.

Here are some pics of me blocking and hitting.

Thats not a bad vertical for a 24 year old man (thats a standing jump too, no approach).

When you go into a tournament where two middles have to pass, it doesnt look good from the start. Our passing was okay, however the wind was really bad for one side of the court and made the ball impossible to pass. We made it to the upper bracket after going 4-2 in pool play. We won our first round 36-34 in a game to 30. We lost in the second round because I couldnt seem to hit past the block and we failed in the passing department.

The nice part about it, though, is from 10 am to 10 pm it is all you can drink beer, and from 10 am to 7 pm it is all you can eat food. They also had water, soda and gatorade for free. So after we lost we got our mugs and went to the beer wagons and watched some more vb. This last pic is a picture of the Men's Open Championship Game.
